Can I sue anyone for this?

So I lost a pay check, and by lost i mean it was stolen from me in public, and of course, i called my payroll and got it canceled. I didnt endorse the check, or put my personal information on it. So three days later, its cashed at a Quick Mart, with a fake signature. So I get an aferdavid of forgery and I guess I just lose the money? My question is, can I sue the quick mart for not asking for I.D. and cashing a cancelled check in my name?
