96 maxima electrical problem?

I have a 1996 Nissan maxima the battery keeps on draining after a couple of miles the car runs exelent other than that also my check engine light came on not sure if for the same reason. ..Ihave replaced alternator spark plugs but haven't had any luck please help this was my daily driver before the electrical problem any ideas?
